Virtual write-in

A virtual write-in is a write-in that happens online, with no need to be in a specific physical location. They can happen via chat room, social media, or Google Hangouts.

Since Camp NaNoWriMo 2013, the NaNoWriMo staff and interns have hosted virtual write-ins on Youtube. These virtual write-ins consist of some discussion about a particular aspect of writing with some short word sprints sprinkled in. The chat room to the side of the Youtube stream provides a place for Wrimos to chat with each other, share word counts and sentences, and have fun. Of course, one is very welcome to attend and write the entire time without chatting with other writers.

Regions may also host virtual write-ins. The most frequent occurrence of virtual regional write-ins is through a regional chat room. This is especially the case for spread-out regions such as Elsewhere or regions consisting of entire countries.

One can also think of the @NaNoWordSprints Twitter account as a virtual write-in full of word wars.
