On the NaNo site I'm known as murphyslawyer, but most people call me Murph or Murphy. You can, too! I've been taking part in NaNoWriMo for several years now and think Wikiwrimo is a lovely little invention which I don't contribute to nearly enough.
If you want to know more about me, here's what's on my NaNo profile:
Canadian with a love of, among other things, tea, music, and tattoos, who also possesses a severe lack of brain-to-mouth filter, a goofball dog, and a fondness for swearing in both official languages, often with high levels of snark. Pretty much incapable of going to bed at the proverbial "decent" time, but very much capable of being distracted. Constantly looking for ways to make November even more difficult for herself, and usually finding them with frightening ease. (More on that later...)
If you interact with me at all, you will quickly learn that I am strongly against pants, and very much in favour of puns.
NaNo and Murphy
I took part in NaNoWriMo for the first time in 2009. I'd seen mention of this weird acronym several times throughout my years on FictionPress, and one night in my first year of college I finally busted out the Google-fu and checked it out. It was fascinating. I signed up, dragged my best friend with me, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Nowadays I tend to spend a lot of time in the Games, Diversions, and Other Exciting Forms of Procrastination, because, well, procrastinating. I can also be found in the Beyond 50K forum, though I'm not on the forums much in the off season.
My track record on NaNoWriMo is good. Camp NaNoWriMo... less so. As for Screnzy... I attempted it. Once. And only once. I am very much a novelist and not a screenwriter or playwright, thank you.
Other NaNo Things
In 2012, I unofficially ML'd for the city of Guelph, since it's officially part of Region/Canada/ON/Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge and it turned out that a lot of Guelph Wrimos had a hard time getting to events in any of those three cities. It was a barrel of fun and I'd love to officially ML one day.
Bonus fun fact: I've been a NaNo participant as a member of, if I recall correctly, four different regions. I move too often.
