What on earth is going on at NaNoWriMo HQ? Here's a high level summary compiled by an anonymous community member.
Tupelo Hassman
Tupelo Hassman was the Office of Letters and Light's office manager (or Office Captain) until October 2011. She joined the OLL team in February 2010 after participating in NaNoWriMo since 2003 and assisting the shipping captain Bradford Earle in 2009. She has also served on the editorial board of the Young Writers Program editorial board since 2010.
Tupelo holds a BA in English--Creative Writing from the University of Southern California and an MFA in fiction from Columbia University. While working at OLL she also taught English composition long-distance. Her work has been published in a number of literary journals, and her first novel, girlchild, was published February 2012.[1] Her second novel, gods with a little g, came out in 2019.
Tupelo wrote a pep talk for NaNoWriMo 2012.
Her name comes from the Van Morrison song "Tupelo Honey". Yes, she has seen Van Morrison play that song live.
