GoodChatting is the IRC server where one of NaNoWriMo's unofficial chatrooms is hosted. The channel name is #nanowrimo. #nanowrimo is the oldest Nano-related IRC chat, founded in October 2002. While its popularity has dwindled over the years, during November, it may have over 100 people actively participating in the chat simultaneously.

The GoodChatting NaNoWriMo chatroom served as the official NaNoWriMo chatroom in the 2007 and 2008 seasons and had its own page on the NaNoWriMo website [1]. While the chat moved to unofficial status in 2009, the FAQ continued to mention the chatroom in 2009 and 2010. Since then, the GoodChatting NaNoWriMo chat has been strictly unofficial but is still very active during Nano season.

You can access #nanowrimo with your web browser by going to this page or you can use your favourite IRC client to connect to #nanowrimo (or any other GoodChatting channel) by connecting to server irc.goodchatting.com, channel #nanowrimo (or the channel of your choice). Several regions, such as Georgia::Atlanta, Edmonton (Alberta) and Montreal (Quebec) host their regional chatrooms on GoodChatting as well.

If you're a Municipal Liaison, you can fill out this form to request a regional chatroom be set up to allow people to chat via the web.

BattleJesus is the primary bot found in GoodChatting NaNo-related chat rooms.
