What on earth is going on at NaNoWriMo HQ? Here's a high level summary compiled by an anonymous community member.
Classy
Classy (formerly StayClassy) is a fundraising site that National Novel Writing Month uses. Participants can create accounts and become fundraisers for NaNoWriMo and Camp NaNoWriMo. When you do so, you can set goals, recruit donors and raise the required money to keep NaNoWriMo and its sister events up and running! If you become a Classy fundraiser, you will be able to put your account's URL on your NaNoWriMo profile so that visitors to your profile will know how to donate through you. You will also receive a halo once your Classy page reaches $10 or more, as well as the donor goodies for the total amount raised.
Night of Writing Dangerously fundraising also happens through the Classy website.
In 2013, NaNoWriMo set a goal to raise $25,000 through sponsorships. They exceeded the goal by 17%, raising $29,191.
Classy also organizes the Classy awards for social impact and progress. NaNoWriMo won a Classy award in 2010 for "Most Innovative Use of Social Media". [1], earning a cash reward and in kind consulting and social media strategy work.
