Brave the Page
Brave the Page is an official NaNoWriMo handbook by Rebecca Stern and Grant Faulkner created to walk young writers through the writing process. It was published 27 August 2019 by Viking Books for Young Readers.
While the book is a guide for a NaNoWriMo-like challenge, the book is not written specifically for NaNoWriMo and can be used for writing any story.
Brave the Page is divided into four parts:
- Part 1: Get Ready - How to find ideas, set goals and deadlines, and create a writing routine
- Part 2: Get Set - Learn what makes a book good and how to create characters, plot, and worlds
- Part 3: Write - A week-by-week guide for the writing adventure
- Part 4: Now What? - A guide to editing and making a writing habit
The book includes pep talks from New York Times bestselling authors John Green, Marissa Meyer, Jennifer Niven, Daniel José Older, Danielle Paige, Celia C. Pérez, and Scott Westerfeld, plus an introduction by Jason Reynolds.
