Amazon Smile

National Novel Writing Month is listed as an AmazonSmile eligible non-profit organization, under the heading "Arts and Culture." Anyone who shops on Amazon can designate NaNoWriMo as their Smile charity.

To designate NaNoWriMo as the recipient of Smile funds, shoppers navigate to smile.amazon.com and log in to their Amazon account. If it is the shopper's first visit to Smile, they will be asked to choose a charity. The shopper can type "National Novel Writing Month" into the search bar, and then choose the button to Select this as the charity.

Amazon customers who have already designated a charity but wish to change it can do so at any time.

AmazonSmile is available through the Amazon Mobile app, but must be turned on using the Settings.

Once a shopper has designated their preferred non-profit, a portion (0.5%) of every purchase made through smile.amazon.com will be sent to that non-profit. These funds come directly from Amazon. Using Smile to send money to a charity does not cost the shopper any money, nor can the shopper use the donated funds as a tax deduction.

As of March 2021 NaNoWriMo has received over $18,000 through AmazonSmile.
