:It was a former region in the earlier days of NaNo before MLs stepped up to lead the individual country regions. Considering I built the rough version of the region directory before the 2011 NaNo season, that would mean that Europe::Scandinavia would have gotten cut (or more likely split) then. But I'm not seeing it on the official list of regions that got changed/split/cut, so I have no idea. So yes, that can be cut from this region list. Good catch! -Sushimustwrite (talk) 20:41, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Revision as of 16:41, 15 September 2012

Have any questions? Look through the FAQ and help area first. If you can't find the answer, ask it here, and another Wikiwrimo will get back to you. Note: you can also ask on someone's userpage, but this method gives your question the widest exposure, which is good for the questions that more than one person can answer. Happy Wikiwrimo-ing!

How do I ask a question here?

Start a new section by starting a new line and surrounding your question with two equal signs == like this ==. Don't forget to sign your name by using four tildes like so: ~~~~. Sushimustwrite 20:23, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Are you actively looking for more editors/contributors?

I know you posted a link to Wikiwrimo.org in the self-promotion forum on the NaNo site, but since it's not a forum that is frequented by a lot of users at this time of year, perhaps we should consider asking the mods if we could post a link in a more prominent location? Just a thought. :-) Thanks for all your hard work putting this together! Lyrwriter 04:34, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I'm always open to new contributors! The OLL staff know this site exists and like it (and mentioned it on the Facebook page after I emailed them and told them what I was up to!). This is an unofficial site, so I'm trying not to push them too hard. I'll definitely be promoting more hardcore come September and October as NaNo approaches. Feel free to spread the word! :) Sushimustwrite 18:07, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

I've contributed an article but don't know how to link it to other articles it mentions. How do I link articles together?

I hope that makes sense as a question! You know in the articles when they have names of things in blue and stuff? How do I make those hyperlinks come up?Delorfinde 19:43, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

It makes perfect sense! Surround the article in question with [[]]. So Mr. Ian Woon becomes Mr. Ian Woon. You can also make the word say something else, for example: Young Writers Program could become YWP. You can also do this for articles that don't exist yet but should. This will make the article show up in the wanted pages area, and someone can look through that area and make the article or just click the red link and create the page. The links page gives all of this in a nice table. -Sushimustwrite 20:13, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Are these images allowed to be used?

On the OLL Blog there are pictures of each of the staff. Can I put these on the Wikiwrimo pages for the staff? Thanks :) FlatRose 15:08, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm going to go with no for the moment unless permission is obtained; they are copyrighted by whoever took those pictures, and the photographer(s) may or may not be okay with having them posted everywhere willy nilly. Yes, I know it's the Internet, but using the "It's just the Internet" isn't a great excuse, which is why I haven't already obtained usable pictures myself. One thing I plan on doing and something you might want to do is look through Flickr for photos of the NaNo staff released under a Creative Commons license; there might be some from a Night of Writing Dangerously or other event. Those are perfectly fine and encouraged to use here. If all else fails I'm getting pictures myself if I make my way out there for a NOWD. :) Thanks for asking first, and you've made a lot of great contribs so far! -Sushimustwrite 16:53, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Regional Information Pages

I'm thinking of starting a new category for regions and adding regional information pages. Well, when I say "pages", I mean that I'm starting with Seattle, since that's the region I know. :) We could use these to capture regional history, regional quirks (ex: mascots), popular write-in spots, etc. What do you think? - Jsmthng 01:25, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

This is one of the things in my wish list for the wiki, so go for it! I'd love to stalk...I mean, learn about other regions this way. -Sushimustwrite 06:09, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
Update: The Wikiwrimo regional directory has begun! The base is at Region, with subpages for continents/countries to the region proper. It's still very bare, and no actual regional pages have been written yet as I've been trying to get everything ready, but you're welcome to get started. What you described is exactly what I hope to see in the regional pages, so have fun! -Sushimustwrite 01:30, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Europe::Scandinavia

NaNoWriMo doesn't have a region for Scandinavia. Is this meant to be a page for grouping Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland? FlatRose (talk) 20:24, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

It was a former region in the earlier days of NaNo before MLs stepped up to lead the individual country regions.
