Tupelo holds a BA in English--Creative Writing from the University of Southern California and an MFA in fiction from Columbia University. She currently teaches English composition long-distance in addition to working at OLL. Tupelo Hassman was the Office of Letters and Light's office manager (or Office Captain) until October 2011. She joined the OLL team in February 2010 after participating in NaNoWriMo since 2003 and assisting the shipping captain Bradford Earle in 2009. She has also served on the editorial board of the Young Writers Program editorial board since 2010.
