Tim Kim is the current Director of Communications at National Novel Writing Month. He first joined NaNoWriMo in 2007 as a participant before interning at NaNoWriMo for the 2009 event and staying through Script Frenzy 2010. He joined the OLL team in 2011 when Tupelo Hassman stepped down to devote herself to her soon-to-be published novel girlchild. [1]. At some point in 2012 Tim's title changed from Office Captain to Managing Editor, and in 2013 it changed to Editorial Director before changing to its present Director of Communications.

Tim coordinated 30 Covers, 30 Days in 2009 and 2011. When Tim joined the NaNo staff as office captain, he admitted that his badge of shame was never having finished NaNoWriMo in his four years of participating. He finally won in 2011.

Tim graduated from UCSD with a degree in literature. Before heading to the Bay Area, he worked a variety of jobs, including assisting a studio executive and chaperoning David Beckham's children. He has also worked with San Francisco magazine, WIRED magazine and CONDÈ Nast.[2] He was also the managing editor of Once Magazine. Tim also exhibits some guitar playing ability as shown in his October 2012 NaNoVideo "Donate Maybe", a parody of "Call Me Maybe" [1]
