In 2014 Albany entered a 2-on-2 regional war for total average word count. Albany teamed up with Los Angeles, and the two regions worded against Atlanta and Humboldt County, California.

Along with NaNoWriMo activities, the Albany region hosts a year-round write-in at a local Denny's on Sunday evenings.
