Georgia is an average-sized state in the southeastern United States. Its capital is Atlanta, which is also its largest region. Many regions, such as Cumming/Forsyth County and Kennesaw, are in close proximity to Atlanta due to its urban sprawl. Some regions, such as Atlanta and Elsewhere, have been around as long as regions have been a part of Nanowrimo. The most recent regions to be added were North in 2009, Cumming/Forsyth County in 2010, and St. Simons Island in 2011.

Georgia has jokingly been suggested as the home for an "East Coast" branch of NaNoWriMo, as past Nanowrimo Director Lindsey Grant has ties to Atlanta and Lead Forums Moderator Heather Dudley is a member of the Macon region.
