Nancy Smith was the current community liaison at the Office of Letters and Light from July 2010 to June 2011. She grew up in Idaho and attended college in Seattle, where she earned a B.A. in philosophy[1]. After working for a nonprofit in Cape Town, South Africa, she returned to the United States and earned a master's degree in media studies in New York City[1][2]. Before joining OLL in July 2010, she has worked as a graphic designer and a writer. In addition to working at OLL, she pursued her MFA in writing at the University of San Francisco[1].

Nancy enjoys baking and makes an excellent peach cobbler, and her superpower of choice is time control[2]. She also enjoys writing self-proclaimed terrible folk songs and working on her novel. 2010 was her first NaNoWriMo, despite knowing about the event for years before.

In June 2011 Nancy left OLL to pursue a full-time creative writing fellowship. Special Projects Manager Sarah Mackey took her place.[3] However, Nancy did stay connected to the OLL community by designing many of the NaNoWriMo 2011 goodies, including the stickers, donor poster, new journal with the Chris Baty quote, mug, keyrings, and many of the t-shirts[4]
