Marya Brennan is the Young Writers Program Director at National Novel Writing Month. She joined the NaNoWriMo team in fall 2016.

Before joining NaNoWriMo, Marya taught middle school English and history in the Bay Area for five years. Sometime during this period, she took a break to travel, learn and forget Spanish, write a NaNoWriMo novel, and go on adventures through Europe. She has also worked with literary nonprofits Chapter 510 & the Dept. of Make Believe and the Oakland Book Festival.

When Marya isn't writing, she's lying about how much she watches Netflix, writing a young adult dystopian scifi novel set in East Oakland, or exploring the Bay Area with her husband and little brown dog.
