Get Sponsored

Get Sponsored is a part of NaNoWriMo's More Ways to Give program, which allows enthusiastic Wrimos who are a little short on spending money to support NaNoWriMo in other ways by getting family, friends, and fellow Wrimos to support them in their place.

Users create a page and set a fundraising goal through the Classy website. Wrimos can upload a picture and write text, or use the provided sponsorship request text. The page allows you to accept pledges and offline donations as well as credit card donations. Previously the sponsorship pages were run through GiftTool, but in 2011, they were switched to Classy. Wrimos earn donor goodies as they raise the equivalent funds; for example, a Wrimo who raises $100 through their sponsorship page will get the year's donation poster. However, since the sponsorship runs through the end of the month, a Wrimo will not be able to get their halo until December. Sponsorship funds do not count toward region totals during the event since they are not counted in full until December, when the sponsorship ends.

During Camp NaNoWriMo Wrimos who add their sponsorship URL to their profiles get a "Sponsored Camper" profile badge on their profiles. The main NaNoWriMo Author Info area also provides a space for Wrimos to include their sponsorship URL.

Often NaNoWriMo HQ give away prizes to the top sponsorship fundraisers at the end of an event. Past prizes have included tablets and a phone consultation with a published author.

Wrimos who want to attend the Night of Writing Dangerously must raise a certain amount ($300 in 2016) through the Night of Writing Dangerously-specific sponsorship page in order to be admitted.
