Dan Duvall is a former Technical Director at the Office of Letters and Light. He joined the OLL team in early 2009 after Russell Uman's departure and worked on the NaNoWriMo and Script Frenzy websites since Script Frenzy 2009. Among his accomplishments are moving the websites to cloud computing and improving the uptime of the websites during the events, including 100% uptime during NaNoWriMo 2013. He tends not to get much sleep during launches and when the website is down and looks forward to sleeping after launches[1].

On November 1, 2010, when NaNoWriMo's website traffic was at its highest ever at the time and Drupal was struggling with it, Dan's dedication kept him from breaking to eat, drink, or go to the bathroom for five hours while he talked to someone who built the original MySQL, leaving a lonely uneaten sandwich next to him. It eventually got eaten.[2].

Dan is an excellent dancer[3]. He enjoys comedy [4] and is particularly good at making sandwiches, scat singing, spinning pile-drivers and bailing from a mountain bike[5]. He has yet to participate in an OLL event.

In January 2014 NaNo HQ announced that Dan was stepping down from the Technical Director position. The new Technical Director, Dave Beck, started in April 2014.
